As artists, we are always searching for tools or solutions that help us get to our vision. Jon is total “tool geek” and is always willing to try some new tool or crazy thing that allows him to create something new or create something a little bit faster or quicker. A couple of years ago he stumbled on Pure and Simple molds that offer some amazing shapes that allow the artist to create some fabulous hump and slump mold forms, quickly and efficiently. These are basically big pieces of plaster that the artist uses to dry clay over or in, and the clay takes on the shape of the form used. Using the forms has allowed Jon to create large functional, serving pieces without a lot of time spent making the plaster forms or the clay forms which allows him to maximize the amount of time he spends on the surface decorating, which is his true passion. We all had such a great time at the Art Fair this year and we really appreciate all of our loyal supporters turning out to see us and our work. We had a wonderful weekend of great weather, the vendors and artist were all top notch, and we met a lot of new friends that loved and responded to what we’ve been working on the past few months. For artists who haven’t participated in the Powderhorn Art Fair, you can’t ask for a group of folks that is more supportive and willing to work with you; from making sure you are all right, by feeding you breakfast and lunch and by doing a great job marketing the event. The volunteers who supported the event did a wonderful job and we appreciate all of their efforts. Thanks again to everyone who stopped by the booth and for the hardworking folks at Powderhorn who made it all possible.
Five of Fire on the Greenway artists are participating in the Powderhorn Art Fair again this year. The dates of the Fair are August 2nd, 10:00-6:00 and Sunday August 3rd 10:00-5:00. Exhibiting their work this year are Brynn Macosko, Melissa Favaro, Sheryl Grassie and new this year are Catherine Veigel, David Menk and Jon Loer. In addition to new work the artists have been working on, we are once again having our famous clearance table out in hopes of moving some older inventory. Hope to see you there!
Opening day for the Kingfield Farmers Market outdoor season is Sunday, May 18th from 8:30am – 1:00! Mark your calendars for 24 straight Sundays filled with local produce, meats, breads, cheeses, prepared foods, crafts, music, and fun in south Minneapolis.
