Jello, shag carpeting, Musk oil, Tang, and a lot of other stuff from the 50’s and 60’s didn’t quite make it into the new century except with various niche collectors.  However the ceramics from this era have stood the test of time and are still sought after and used.

Bitossi Rimini Blue collection

Rimini Blu is a ceramics collection by Aldo Londi, which he built over time adding pieces between 1953 and 1965, and is identified as Bitossi’s signature. Characterized by its intricate hand-embossed patterns and layered blue and turquoise glazes, it is reminiscent of the sea. Only the master ceramicists at Bitossi know the formula for this stunning blue glaze. The pattern can be seen in vases, lamps, ash trays, bowls, platters and animal figurines.

As with any handcrafted object, small imperfections can sometimes be found and are consistent with the originality and craft process of the product. Every piece bears the Bitossi stamp, is numbered on the bottom and is individually boxed with a certificate of authenticity and appropriate care. The company is still manufacturing product which can be found in several Museum stores and of coarse eBay is a great source of the vintage pieces.
